The allure of the lifestyle Sardinia Bay Golf & Wildlife Estate offers has been highlighted by exceptional sales figures in recent months.
The estate, on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth, is drawing unprecedented interest from potential buyers.
Five plots in phase two were sold in December, normally a quiet month in the property business, Leon Erasmus, of Remax Bay, said this week.
“People usually do not put their houses on the market in December because of family commitments. And buyers don’t want to inconvenience sellers by viewing properties over the festive period.”
A resident of the estate himself, Erasmus has first-hand knowledge of what sets Sardinia Bay apart.
“The estate’s close proximity to town is convenient and the beautiful natural environment is something to appreciate,” he said.
“The estate is safe and secure, which is important in these days.”
Erasmus’s partner, Alan Moore, said plots normally sold for between R820 000 and R1 050 000.
After the recent sales, 80 per cent of the plots in phase 1 and 2 have been sold – 73 of the available 91.
“Of the 27 units in phase two, nine have been sold,” Moore said. “And what is even more exciting is seeing how rapidly the plots are being developed.
“Most of the people who buy plots want to start building immediately.
“This is encouraging, because the community is growing, families are establishing their place in the estate and they start enjoying the lifestyle to the fullest.
“We expect nine new residences to go up in the first quarter of the year, and there are more in the planning phase,” Moore said.
One of the reasons for the increase in the number of sales was that people were being drawn to the sense of community that gated estates offered, he added.
“In particular, they want to move to lifestyle estates where there are aspects of leisure, beauty and better potential for growth.”
Sardinia Bay delivered all of those aspects, Moore explained. “The estate has a professionally run golf course, an owners’ recreation centre with tennis court and pool, rich wildlife, beautiful forests and pristine surroundings.
“It is close to the beach, surrounded by protected conservatories and close to town. Therefore, the residents have the convenience of the city, while living in the country.”
Moore expects the first two phases to be sold out within the next few months. The third phase, consisting of 19 plots, is expected to be launched by the end of the year.
