Exciting news from the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens is that some of the top teams have started arriving in Port Elizabeth for this weekend’s tournament.

The Emerging Sevens High Performance Team and the Emerging Sevens SARU Team coached by Denver Wannies are among the first of the arrivals.

The teams include a number of players in the Springbok training squad like Eastern Province stars Norman Nelson and Deon Booysen, who are making a name for themselves in the ranks of emerging players.

Other up and coming young players to watch out for are Boland’s Frankie Horn and Western Province’s Terry Jacobs. Coach Wannies says his players are keen and hungry and will grasp the opportunity to do well at the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens.

He says the youngsters still have a lot to learn and their focus for the tournament will be on putting together a reserve pool of talented players for the Springbok coach. Winning the event will be a bonus.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens runs from December 14 to 16 at the Grey School Campus.

Tickets are available from Computicket. A weekend pass costs R150 for adults and R75 for children under 12.
