The R500 million Milkwood development between Jeffreys Bay and Aston Bay will be a five-storey building with 120 luxury units when completed. Starting with a price tag of R3,3 million, all the units have a sea view and distinctive imported accessories to ensure an opulent lifestyle.
Jaco Rademeyer of Jaco Rademeyer Estates in Port Elizabeth, who markets phase two, says it is clear that the Jeffreys Bay area has become a hot spot for property investors and developers.
“Seventeen units have already been sold in phase one, mainly to businessmen in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Several commercial developments are also taking place in the region, including a multi-million rand regional shopping centre and golf estates.”
He says Milkwood’s location right on the beach in a sought-after coastal region, makes it one of the best property investments in the country.
Rademeyer says the units are ideal both for permanent and holiday residents and he foresees a rush of interested buyers. The first units are expected to be ready for occupation by June of next year.
Milkwood director Christo Swart says the building, only metres from the unspoilt beach, is being constructed in a zigzag format with the back of the units facing the well-known Marina Martinique and the front offering a magnificent ocean view. It will cover 30 000 square metres and will be 265 metres in length.
Swart says the style of architecture is Cape Caribbean, similar to the colonial style buildings that were erected on the Caribbean islands. “The back of the building will feature a huge glass column in the middle, offering residents a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside from the escalators.”
The ground floor will house a secure parking garage, while the residential units will be located on four floors above. Also on the ground floor, will be a comfortable and luxurious relaxation lounge with glass sliding doors leading to three swimming pools and the beach.
All the units have three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and an open-plan living area. The smallest unit is 160 square metres and the largest 190 square metres. The most expensive unit will cost R4,5 million.
Swart says no expense has been spared to ensure lavish comfort. “The whole building has a filtering system to purify the water by 90 per cent for use for washing and in the bathrooms. Each unit has an additional filter to purify this water even more for drinking purposes.
“The carpets have been specially weaved, the finishes are done in beautiful wood, toilets and wash basins have been imported from France, shower heads come from Italy, to name but a few luxuries. The building also has its own generator to avert power disruptions.”
