The Emerging Springboks A side won the women’s section at the second Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament at the Grey School Campus in Port Elizabeth today.
The final was an action-packed match-up between the Emerging Boks A and B teams, with the A side outscoring their second-stringers by 25 points to 7. The A team notched up five tries to the B team’s one.

Natasha Hofmeester of the A side was the top try-scorer in the women’s tournament.
Thrilling rugby can be expected in tomorrow’s Championship quarter-finals.
The Assupol Blue Bulls, reigning provincial sevens champions, take on a British Army side filled with Fijian internationals in the first quarter-final on the main field at 10:12am. At 10:30am, NMMU will play against the Emerging Sevens High Performance team in the second quarter-final on the main field.
At the same times, the Emerging Sevens Saru squad will compete against Progress and the SA Rugby Legends will do battle with the British Samurai in the other two quarter-finals on the A field.
In the Plate quarter-finals, Global Management will meet the Indlovus, Trojans will play Spring Rose, the Tigers will take on the Ndzondelelo Old Boys and the B&R Puma Crusaders will compete against the SEP Lions.
In the Bowl quarter-finals, it will be the Kempton Barbarians against Despatch and Griquas versus the Grahamstown Brumbies. The CUT Absa Rugby Club and Grey Invitation sides advance directly to the semi-finals after their opponents withdrew.
The U/19 Championship final is also expected to produce lots of action with home boys Grey High taking on the Welsh URDD side, the current Dubai U/19 champions.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens ends tomorrow (16 December).
