Pier 14 Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth is taking retail therapy to a whole new level with the opening of its latest shop.
Health Haven, which opened this past weekend, takes a holistic approach to wellness and offers customers all-natural products and treatments for a wide range of illnesses.
It is the first Health Haven store in the Eastern Cape but plans are afoot to open branches across South Africa.
“We advise and educate customers on health matters and sell a variety of naturopathic and homeopathic products,” said co-owner and manager Tembi Ngingi.
“For example, if a customer comes in with an ulcer on his leg, we will tend the wound and show him how to treat it with our products.”
Detoxification and supportive treatments are Health Haven’s core focus.
Ngingi explained that the treatment is done in collaboration with a colonic irrigation practitioner. “Our main aim is to restore the chemical balance of the body.”
Ngingi encouraged people with long-standing health problems to visit Health Haven on the second floor of Pier 14.
Also on the second floor, shoppers can seek advice and purchase health products from the Natural Health Centre.
The Marie Stopes Clinic on the fourth floor provides confidential reproductive health services for women. The day-clinic gives women access to family planning options and antenatal services, as well as HIV testing and the safe termination of unwanted pregnancies.
The health shops and clinic add to Pier 14’s already diverse offering ¬– from furniture and lifestyle to clothing and speciality stores.
“With just one month to Christmas, all our tenants are gearing up for a bumper festive season,” said Sophia Steyn from Pier 14 centre management. “The public can expect a stress-free shopping experience.”
Atmosphera Arcade will help the kids beat the boredom with its holiday promotions. For parents’ peace of mind, there will be additional security personnel on duty during the festive season.
Other seasonal highlights include children’s photo sessions with Santa from December 6 ¬to 24 and a gift-wrapping service from Dec 11 until Christmas Eve.
The Pier 14 shopping centre will offer extended trading hours (until 6pm) on weekdays from December 6.
Until December 17, shoppers also still have a chance to drive away in style in a Nissan NP200 bakkie by entering the wildly popular “Win a Car” promotion.
