Iconic South African band Mango Groove anchors an impressive line-up of national acts that will take to the stage at the MTN Nelson Mandela Bay Splash Festival this Easter weekend.

Live music, comedy and theatre will be offered throughout the four-day event, which takes place at Hobie Beach in Port Elizabeth from April 2 to 5.

Fresh-faced beat boxer and SA’s Got Talent runner-up, George “Gorgeous” Avakian, will be on stage on Saturday evening before the fireworks, with Gang of Instrumentals straight thereafter.

Nadine and Gerrie Pretorius will be live on Friday evening, with the Organics Jazz Trio and the Comedy Festival the highlights on Sunday’s programme. Stef the Hypnotist and Mango Groove will end off proceedings on a high note on Monday afternoon.

According to programme coordinator David Limbert the Comedy Festival, which features side-splitting national and local acts, is a first for the event.

Local comedian Michael “the fly” Arthur will be the opening act, followed by The Improvables, Tall Mo and PE’s much-loved “cousin” Barry Hilton.

Ireland’s internationally acclaimed Organics Jazz Trio will bring a unique flavour to the festival’s lazy Sunday jazz component.

Mango Groove’s career has spanned more than two memorable decades in South African music history, charting the country’s turbulent and exciting metamorphosis.

Led by charismatic lead singer Claire Johnston, recognised across the globe for her superb vocal skills, the band has become a household name both in South Africa and internationally.

Their hit singles include “Hometalk”, “Another Country”, “Moments Away”, “Special Star”, “Hellfire, “Dance Some More” and, more recently, “Bang the Drum”, “This is Not a Party” and “Hey!”.

Stef the Hypnotist, who has visited more than 80 countries and speaks six languages, will delight festivalgoers with his special brand of hilarious hypnosis.
Apart from live entertainment, the festival features beach sports, five international water sport events, kids’ activities, a lifestyle marquee and more than 190 stalls.
